It’s hot out there – cool down with some fab Italian ice-lollies (no need to go to Italy)!

Hmmm freezer ready or homemade?

I bought some great ice-lolly containers. The kind that have the cute little straw up the side to slurp up the melted juice, so nothing goes to waste and they are most importantly mess-free. I had great ideas about fresh fruit ice-lollies; I was even going to have a go at producing stripped ice-lolly pops, using different fruit for different layers… I got as far as unwrapping the containers and placing them, albeit lovingly, in a drawer.

Then to my great joy, I, well CJ, made a remarkable discovery. As is the norm when we go to the supermarket, CJ likes shoving unsuitable items in the shopping basket, and I quickly take them out. However, as it turns out, he has made a great find! Polaretti fruit ice-lollies produced by Dolfin. They are in a word: fab! These are ice-lollies to be taken home and frozen, they are not pre-frozen at point of purchase.

Made in Italy, with fruit juice and free from preservatives and colourings, they have a natural fruit taste and look about them. No gaudy bright blues, or vomit inducing neon-greens.  They taste great, are fun to eat and my two love them.

Best part, it is cooling and comes in a pack of ten! And as it’s an ice-lolly not ice cream, there are no nuts, eggs or dairy lurking around!  Yay! The pack contains strawberry (x4), black cherry (x2), orange (x2) and lemon (x2) ice-lollies. They are fat-free, and not pumped full of sugar, each lolly-pop contains a meager (hooray!) 33 calories.
