Raising Children with Food & Other Allergies in Singapore

Food Free Alternative Easter Egg : Suitable for children with food allergies

Posted by Vicky on | March 27, 2012 | No Comments

Children with food allergies can often feel left out and upset when an event revolves around food. Not being able to eat certain foods can cause children social distress. Sometimes it is necessary to think up a non-food option, so the child does not have to be completely excluded.

According to a study published by Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology in 2010 more than 30% of children with a food allergy have experienced bullying. Holidays such as Easter can have a negative impact on children with food allergies – especially if they are dairy, soy, peanut or tree nut allergic as finding the traditional chocolate Easter eggs that cater to these food allergies can be difficult.

If it is not possible to find an Easter egg that caters to a child’s specific allergy needs, here is a great non-food Easter egg alternative.

This wind-up hopping Easter egg is amusing, colourful and lasts much longer than the chocolate variety! It would be a great Easter egg substitute, if there is no chocolate Easter egg that is suitable. It could be given with suitable treats that are safe for your child, for example any gummy sweets or cookies they are able to eat, so they do not have to miss out totally on a food treat.
