‘Aving Avocado – An All Avocado Spread

Posted by Vicky on | March 23, 2011 | No Comments

Packed with vitamins, anti-oxidants, calcium and iron (but to name a few), each serving of avocado offers nearly 20 vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients.

So it’s fair to say I was pleased when I saw the FressureFoods Avocado Spread in my local Coldstorage. It’s 100% pure avocado, and delicious on toast (or tortillas in CJ’s case). I always find avocados a bit hit and miss here, the colour can be right (dark green), the texture (soft to a light press) perfect, and then I get them home and they are stringy, bruised and fit for the bin only. Well I need not worry about that anymore with this spread! It’s great, and as far as price goes pretty reasonable when you consider how expensive avocados are here in Singapore.

It’s a really generous amount in each pack, and there are two separately sealed portions. Each portion contains one avocado.  There are three varieties all by the same company; “all natural” which only contains avocado, and “mild” and “spicy” which contain 6% fresh herbs and spices for example onion and coriander.

This really is great in sandwiches or wraps, and can be used instead of mayonnaise or spread or of course as a stand alone filling.  I have it for breakfast  on toast with a sprinkle of salt and a good amount of freshly ground black pepper. The spicy one is fab for dips. CJ is more than happy with just a spoon and the avocado spread. Great for taking out as a lunchbox filler.

*People with a latex allergy should avoid touching or eating avocados as they contain an enzyme called chitinase which could be the panallergen responsible for the latex-fruit syndrome.

Price $5.85 at Coldstorage
