Raising Children with Food & Other Allergies in Singapore

Sweet William Chocolate Spread : Dairy Free and Nut Free

Posted by Vicky on | May 16, 2011 | No Comments

Chocolate spread is a rite of passage for every childhood. It belongs with memories of bicycles, scabby knees and jelly! It’s great to cheer up a rainy afternoon, or just to have as snack for tea. Personally I’m looking forward to using it as icing on cake (anything to save a bit of time).

I thought that this chocolaty treat would be something that CJ would not be able to experience in his childhood, as he is anaphylactic to nuts. And all of the chocolate spreads that I have seen to date either contain nuts or a made in a facility that handles them. For parents whose children have a dairy allergy, I imagine finding a suitable chocolate spread is just as frustrating! This is where Sweet William saves the day!

Sweet William is an Australian company that provides dairy free milk chocolate, which is produced in a designated nut free facility. Their products are also egg free. Cold Storage Specialty stores have started to supply Sweet William products, and the outlet at the Nex shopping mall, have a good variety that appears to be gradually expanding. At least I keep finding new additions to the Sweet William range whenever I stop by.

The texture of the spread is not quite as thick as other similar spreads such as Nutella, but it delivers high on flavor, and CJ and Boo really enjoyed it if their chocolate smeared faces are anything to go by!!

Sweet William Chocolate Spread is priced at $7.70 at Cold Storage
